Dog training should be fun "one-on-one" time with your companion and a chance for learning to take place on all fronts. Your relationship with your pet is special; he is unique and so are you! Once you learn how your dog learns, there's no end to the things you can teach him, and the fun you can have doing it! The good news is that there's no need to bully your dog, or hurt your dog, to train him.

Using positive reinforcement techniques allows us to strengthen the bond between you and your dog by opening up a dialogue between you. It teaches you to work as a team; giving your pet instant feedback as to which choice was correct. Using punishment, or any aversive techniques, not only weakens this bond of trust between you and your dog, but also provides him with very little usable information. It tells him the choice he made was wrong, but gives him no direction for what he should have done instead.

In working with my clients, I am thoroughly committed to using only dog-friendly training methods. My gentle, reward-based training plans incorporate clicker training, hand signals and verbal cues to make training enjoyable and successful for both owner and pet. My individualized behavior modification plans are designed to discourage and extinguish any unwanted behaviors while replacing them with more suitable responses.

I offer a free initial consultation, followed by the development of an individualized training and/or behavior modification plan, which is designed to address the needs of your specific dog and family situation. One-hour, in-home sessions are conducted at convenient times that enable family members to participate. As the sessions progress, the individual training plans are adapted, based on the responses from the pet, and rate of compliance by the owners.
